MISSION

As part of fulfilling its mandate, Umvoti Municipality commits itself to:

• Provide democratic, transparent and accountable local government;

• Ensure sound inter-governmental relations for integrated development planning;

• Facilitate economic and social development;

• Promote a safe and healthy environment; and

• Render and expand affordable and sustainable services in a transparent and accountable manner and promote a culture of payment for services.

The Corporate Services department provides essential administrative, human resource, and support services to enable the municipality to function effectively and deliver its services to the community.

Key responsibilities and functions:

Administration: The department handles the general operations of the municipality, including document management, record-keeping, and ensuring smooth administrative processes.

Human Resources: The unit manages the municipality's workforce, including recruitment, training, performance management, and employee relations. •

Public Participation: The unit ensures residents are involved in decision-making, allowing them to influence policies and services that affect their lives, contributing to a more responsive and accountable government. •

Legal and Governance: They may provide legal guidance and support to the council and other governance structures, ensuring compliance with laws and regulations. •

Institutional Development: They may be involved in institutional arrangements, development, and transformation. •

Information Technology: They may provide information and communication technology (ICT) management services to support organizational objectives •

Property Administration: This involves managing and controlling the council's properties, including acquisition, disposal, leasing, maintenance, and ensuring compliance with relevant policies and regulations.
